The work
A row of upright bodies pressed one against another: round shoulders, small heads, no faces. Everything is built in cross-hatching — orange, blue, white, yellow, sea green — and the figures are told from the ground only because the colour thickens in them. They are neither portraits nor characters: they are people, and the title says nothing more.
It dates from 2004, and with the date the title stops being generic. «Ludzie» — people — is the subject the whole path begins from: the modelled group of her diploma year, the wood that comes straight after it, the ceramic of 1968. Thirty-eight years later Antonina takes it up again on a sheet of paper, with the same construction — a row of bodies side by side and not one face.
