The work
A horse’s head — the knight in chess — surfaces from the marble inside a brass frame: the image, at once serious and ironic, of man the eternal player. At the 1999 solo exhibition at the Galeria Rzeźby in Warsaw it is the work that gives its title to the Gazeta Wyborcza review, which recognises in it the sculptor’s sense of humour.
The archive keeps its whole course: the design sheet, the photograph of Antonina beside the work in the studio, the images from the exhibition rooms.
