The work
Two upright volumes of pale wood, grown together: the one behind, taller, is opened by a narrow fissure; the one in front divides below into two legs. The heads are barely roughed out and the surface is kept rough.
It carries the date of the year in which Antonina graduates from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the studio of Professor Marian Wnuk. And it is not alone: of that same year, 1966, is a group of five or six standing figures, modelled and not carved, which the wood comes after — the two oldest things in the catalogue are two states of a single idea.
